Lord Mayor of the City of London promotes financial services talks during visit to Dublin
The Lord Mayor of the City of London, Alderman Alan Yarrow has concluded a two-day visit to Dublin.
Alderman Yarrow has launched a new industry-led dialogue on financial services between the City of London and Ireland’s International Financial Services Centre (IFSC Ireland).
On the final day of his inaugural visit, the Lord Mayor undertook a number of engagements. He visited Accenture’s FinTech Innovation Lab, met with the Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, the Lord Mayor of the City of Dublin, Christy Burke, Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton and Minister of State with responsibility for International Banking, Simon Harris.
The invitation for Alderman Yarrow to visit Ireland stemmed from the State Visit of President Michael D. Higgins to the UK in April 2014, during which the President gave a keynote speech at the Guildhall in the City of London where he highlighted the importance of the trading relationship between both nations.
The UK is the largest market by value for exports of Irish financial software, accounting for 25% of Irish exports, and the largest market for Irish financial services representing 50% of exports.
