M5 northbound near Gloucester closed overnight for bridgeworks
Road users are advised that the northbound M5 between Junction 12 and junction 11a will be closed for two nights while two new bridge beams are installed.
A closure of the B4073 underneath the bridge between Corncroft Lane and Birchall Lane will also be needed to ensure the safety of road users overnight on Friday, May 16 and Thursday, May 22.
The work, which is part of a comprehensive package of bridge safety improvements and maintenance on the M5 near Gloucester, will take place between 8pm and 6am.
Clearly signed diversions will be in place for both closures.
Road users travelling north on the M5 will be advised to leave the motorway at junction 12, then follow the A38 northbound, then the A417 westbound from the Barnwood roundabout, then take the first exit signposted A417 at the C&G roundabout and the fourth exit at Elmbridge Court roundabout towards the A40 for Cheltenham before rejoining the M5 at J11.
Full details and regular updates on the works, including videos and photos, can be found on our dedicated M5 Gloucestershire Bridge Works Facebook page.
