Major resurfacing work planned for M62 and A63
Major resurfacing work will take place on the M62 and A63 in September providing a new road surface along large sections of the road between Goole and Hull.
Highways Agency Project Manager, Steve Wright, said:
We will be closing sections of the M62 and A63 on a number of week nights and over one weekend in order to carry out essential maintenance and safety improvement. We understand that closing sections of the busy M62 and A63 will be disruptive to drivers and residents - however we have planned the work to minimise the disruption while maximising the amount of work taking place.
As well as resurfacing the carriageway we will also provide new road markings and road studs, and we will use the closures to carry out other general maintenance and inspection work. This will mean we should not have to carry out further work in this area for a long while.
The work will be taking place in 5 phases:
26 to 29 August – work will take place on the eastbound M62 between North Cave and junction 38. The eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight between junctions 37 and 38, from 8pm to 6am. During the closures sections of the carriageway will be resurfaced, and the road markings and road studs will be replaced.
1 to 4 September – work will take place on the westbound M62 between junction 38 and North Cave. The westbound carriageway will be closed overnight between junctions 38 and 37, from 8pm to 6am. During the closures sections of the carriageway will be resurfaced, and the road markings and road studs will be replaced.
5 to 8 September – work will take place on the M62 junction 36 westbound entry slip road. The slip road will be closed from 8pm on 5 September until 6am on 8 September. During the closure the slip road will be resurfaced, road markings, road studs and traffic loops sensors will be replaced.
8 to 13 September – work will take place on the eastbound A63 between Melton and the Humber Bridge. The eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight between Brighton Street and South Cave, from 8pm to 6am. During the closures work will take place to resurface sections of the carriageway, and replace road markings and road studs renewal.
15 to 20 September - work will take place on the westbound A63 between the Humber Bridge and Melton. The westbound carriageway will be closed overnight between South Cave and Brighton Street, from 8pm to 6am. During the closures work will take place to resurface sections of the carriageway and, replace the road markings and road studs.
During all of the closures clearly signed diversion routes will be in place, which have been agreed with the local authority. Details of these routes plus further information about the work is available on the Highways Agency website
