Making the UK the best place for science and business
Government strategy sets out plan to stimulate economic growth by supporting science and innovation.
Innovate UK’s chief executive Iain Gray has welcomed the publication of the government’s Science and Innovation strategy today.
Our plan for growth: science and innovation, compiled by the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills and HM Treasury, sets out how the government plans to stimulate economic growth by supporting science and innovation.
It recognises the work that Innovate UK has done to build the UK’s innovation ecosystem and reduce barriers to business-led innovation.
Science and Innovation Strategy
Iain Gray said:
Excellence, agility and collaboration are at the heart of what we do. That being the case, I’m pleased that the Science and Innovation strategy recognises the work that Innovate UK has done to develop the UK’s innovation ecosystem, and the crucial role that our Catapult centres and other programmes play in supporting innovative firms right across the UK.
I think the strategy is also right to acknowledge that more needs to be done if the UK is to maintain its reputation as a nation which supports innovation.
The strategy also highlights how we’re joining up with the Research Councils and HEFCE to help the great capabilities of our research base be commercialised more quickly.
Take a look at how Innovate UK and Catapult centres helped GKN Aerospace, Polyphotonixand ReNeuron make the journey from bright idea to commercially viable technology.
