Members of the Royal College of Defence Studies UK visit Karachi
The international delegation including senior military and civilian officials from around the world visited Pakistan.
A delegation from the British Royal College of Defence Studies (RCDS), led by Maj Gen (R) Simon Porter, visited Karachi as part of their week-long visit to Pakistan to learn about the security, economic, business and political aspects of the country.
During their visit to Karachi, the delegation called on military officials and the Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited (PSE), where they met the PSE’s Managing Director and members of the Board to discuss macro-economic reforms. They also attended a networking reception hosted by the British Deputy High Commissioner, John Tucknott MBE, where they met prominent members of the business community.
Speaking during the visit, British Maj Gen (R) Simon Porter said:
Karachi is a huge and growing city, in a strategically important location, and will increasing become a very important city to the rest of Asia and the World. Understanding its growth, its economy and the security situation was time well spent.
It is a city full of energy, entrepreneurship and creativity and we are all looking forward to watching the city’s growth over the coming decades.

As part of the tour agenda, the RCDS delegation had planned a series of meetings with Government as well as non-government officials and institutions in Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi.
