Message from the British High Commissioner in Sri Lanka to mark Eid-Ul-Fitr

The British High Commissioner in Sri Lanka John Rankin issued the following message today.

“It gives me great pleasure to send my warmest wishes to Muslims in Sri Lanka celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr. This is a time of celebration, marking the end of a month of fasting, prayer, reflection and charity – all of which embodies the true spirit of Islam.

I hope that the people of Sri Lanka will come together at this time of celebration, respecting differences of faith or opinion. May this Eid be happy and peaceful.

I wish you all Eid Mubarak.”
