Migration team launches "Coming Home to Jamaica" DVD
The DVD is aimed at informing persons who are being repatriated to Jamaica of the services available to them.
The British High Commission Kingston has launched a DVD called “Coming Home to Jamaica”.
The DVD which was produced by the Rehabilitation and Reintegration Programme is aimed at informing persons who are being repatriated to Jamaica of the services available to them.
The DVD is a follow-up to the Coming Home to Jamaica booklet which was first written in 2010 and revised in October 2012 by the Rehabilitation and Re-integration Programme.
The DVD was produced in 2012 to complement the guide and give deported migrants a visual impression of what to expect upon arrival and allay any apprehension about resettling in their home country.
The Rehabilitation and Reintegration Programme aims to assist Jamaican Nationals deported back to Jamaica from the UK as well as helping rehabilitate local ex-offenders. The programme works closely with the Jamaican Government and local NGO’s such Hibiscus Jamaica, Open Arms and National Organization of Deported Migrants to deliver services such as short-term accommodation, assistance in obtaining key documents to resettle, skills training, transport and reuniting with family.
