David Willetts visited Madrid to promote UK Prosperity objectives in Research and Education from 25-28 October. SIN and Prosperity team at Madrid Embassy arranged a full programme on Science and Education.
During the visit, Mr. Willetts met his opposite number, Spanish Minister of State Carmen Vela, to discuss science policy in a tough economic climate. Minister Willetts had also a lunch with key players in the Spanish life science sector, which was an excellent opportunity to outline the UK Life Sciences strategy. During the discussion, a broad range of areas for potential bilateral R&D collaboration were mentioned: life sciences, energy, astrophysics, oncology, stem cells, clinical trials and agriculture.
