Minister for Asia condemns attack in Bangladesh
Minister for Asia, Hugo Swire, responds to the attack at Holey Artisan Bakery in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Minister for Asia, Hugo Swire, said:
The attack at Holey Artisan Bakery in Dhaka was a senseless act of terror against innocent people. I offer my deepest condolences to the families and friends of the victims, and pay tribute to those in the local law enforcement, security and emergency services who worked to bring it to an end, and help those affected.
The UK stands shoulder to shoulder with the people of Bangladesh in this global fight against terrorism and extremism.
The attacks took place as people are preparing to celebrate Eid, and in the holy month of Ramadan. Islam is a religion of peace. We reject those who seek to justify violence in its name.
