Minister for Europe calls for calm in Turkey
FCO Minister condemns recent PKK terrorist attacks and calls for calm following attacks on press and party offices.
Foreign Office Minister David Lidington said:
I condemn in the strongest terms the spate of recent terrorist attacks in Turkey, including the PKK attacks on Turkish security forces in Daglica and Igdir this week. My thoughts are with the families of those killed and with the people of Turkey, as they come to terms with the tragic loss of life.
The UK will continue to work with Turkey to combat terrorism. PKK violence must stop and the peace process needs to be resumed.
I also echo Turkish political leaders’ calls for calm following separate attacks on press outlets and party offices.
