Minister for Europe expresses concern about violence in northern Kosovo
Minister for Europe David Lidington said that the UK calls on all communities in Kosovo to "work together to resolve their differences peacefully".
Speaking today the Minister for Europe David Lidington said:
“I was deeply saddened to learn of the violence in northern Kosovo yesterday, which resulted in the death of one Kosovo policeman and injuries to other Kosovo citizens. My thoughts are with their families and friends.
“The UK calls on all communities in Kosovo to reject the use of violence and to work together to resolve their differences peacefully, for the benefit of all.
“The UK remains a firm supporter of Kosovo and its future in the EU, alongside all countries in the Western Balkans. We urge continued effort and engagement by all parties towards this objective, including through the EU-facilitated dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia. All of Kosovo’s citizens deserve to enjoy a secure and prosperous future.”
