Minister for Europe statement on journalist's death in Malta
Sir Alan Duncan has commented on the death of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia in Malta and offers UK support in the investigation.
The Minister for Europe Sir Alan Duncan said:
I am shocked and saddened by the violent death of Daphne Caruana Galizia, in Malta on 16 October. This was a direct attack on the freedom of expression, and investigative journalism. It is essential that all efforts are made to bring the perpetrators to justice.
My thoughts are with the family of Daphne Caruana Galizia and with all the people of Malta with whom the UK has such close ties. The UK stands ready to support the Maltese police investigation in the period ahead, and remains resolute in upholding the fundamental values that underpin democracy.
