Minister for Europe visits Switzerland
The British Minister of State for Europe, The Rt Hon David Lidington MP, visited Switzerland on 20-21 June at the invitation of Federal Councillor Didier Burkhalter.
During a one-and-a-half day programme in Zurich and Berne, the Minister met members of the Swiss government, as well as business figures and academics.
The focus of Mr Lidington’s official visit to Switzerland was the strong bilateral relationship. We have many shared interests in Europe and the wider world. The economic ties between Switzerland and the UK are strong, and we want them to grow further. In 2011 trade continued to flourish, with Switzerland importing British goods worth £5.38 billion and services worth £8.9 billion.
