Minister of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Hugo Swire MP, visits Australia

The Rt Hon Hugo Swire MP, Minister of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office for Australia and the Pacific, will be in Australia on 4 – 5 September 2014, visiting Canberra and Melbourne.

During his visit to Canberra, Mr Swire will meet with ministers and senior officials to discuss preparations for the annual UK and Australian Foreign and Defence Ministers’ meeting (AUKMIN) and Australia’s plans for the forthcoming G20 Summit, attend the Parliamentary Joint Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade as well as visiting and laying a wreath at the Australian War Memorial.

The UK’s and Australia’s economic and commercial ties will be a key focus for the Minister’s engagements while in Melbourne. Mr Swire will visit BAE Systems Williamstown, speak at a lunch hosted by the Australian British Chamber of Commerce, and have calls with senior business executives and Australian investors in the UK.

Mr Swire was appointed Minister of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office on 4 September 2012.
