Minister of State for Energy and Business visits Norway
Michael Fallon visited Norway on 13-14 February to speak at the Oslo Energy Forum and meet with Norwegian ministers and business leaders.
The UK’s Minister of State for Energy and Business at the Department of Energy & Climate Change (DECC) and Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) Michael Fallon, was one of this year’s key speakers at the annual Oslo Energy Forum, an international gathering of top executives from the energy industry.
Michael Fallon met with Norway’s Energy Minister Tord Lien to discuss strategic energy issues such as a planned UK-Norway electricity interconnector, Carbon Capture and Storage, and the UK’s ongoing demand for Norwegian gas. Together they signed the “One North Sea Statement”, reaffirming their commitment to a strong partnership between the UK and Norway on energy and climate issues.
“The UK and Norway share a common interest in working to support business opportunities in the North Sea in order to stay competitive against emerging markets”, Michael Fallon told the Norwegian press.
He also met with State Secretary from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries, and Norwegian and British companies to discuss offshore industrial competitiveness and investment opportunities in the UK’s energy sector.
