The British Minister of State for Skills and Equalities Nick Boles MP visited Oslo and Stavanger on 24 and 25 August.

Mr Boles, who is Minister of State jointly for the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and the Department for Education, was here to gather information on Norway’s approach to Vocational Education and Training (VET) and apprenticeships.

He met the Norwegian Minister for Education Torbjørn Isaksen and learned about how schools, colleges, higher education and businesses work together to deliver varied routes into VET and apprenticeships in a range of industries, leading to successful transition to work.

The UK minister visited pupils and teachers at Elvebakken high school in Oslo and Jåttå high school in Stavanger as well as meeting government officials, academics, researchers and businesses to see how Norwegian vocational education and apprenticeships work in practice.
