Speaking today, the FCO Minister of State, Jeremy Browne said:
“I was saddened to learn of the death of Laura Pollan. A passionate human rights activist, she campaigned tirelessly for the release of political prisoners in Cuba. Her weekly marches in Havana, together with her fellow Ladies in White, helped bring about a positive process that led to the welcome release of all remaining prisoners of conscience. Her passing is a major blow to those fighting for greater civil and political freedoms in Cuba.”
Laura Pollan was 63.
