The Mongolian Darts Federation organised Mongolia’s first Premier League of Darts tournament during the 50th anniversary year of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the United Kingdom and the 20th anniversary of the foundation of the Darts Federation in Mongolia.

The tournament aimed to demonstrate the current level of darts in Mongolia and to encourage people to take up the sport.

The Premier League will see the top 10 out of the 300 participants competing in a round-robin format.

Mr Julian Pearson, Deputy Head of Mission of the British Embassy in Ulaanbaatar threw the first dart of the league and delivered a speech. He said:

Darts first originated in the 17th century in England. I took up darts when I was a child. I am very glad and honoured to become an honorary member of the Mongolian Darts Federation. I hope to develop cooperation between the British and Mongolian Darts federations and organise many events jointly in the future.

The Darts Premier League was organised by the British Embassy in Ulaanbaatar and the Mongolian Darts Federation, and sponsored by APU (a local brewery company).
