Morecambe Bay Investigation timeline extended
Morecambe Bay Investigation timeline extended due to the evidence gathering process not yet having been completed.
The Secretary of State for Health agreed earlier in the year that the Morecambe Bay Investigation would submit its report in November.
The Investigation Panel is still undertaking interviews as part of the evidence gathering process and, whilst it is important to be prompt, that should not be to the detriment of carrying out a thorough and complete investigation.
The Secretary of State recognises that due to the significant volume of material the Investigation is reviewing and the need to complete the interview programme in an appropriate manner, a further short extension to the timeline will enable the Chairman and Panel to complete its consideration of all of the evidence and address the terms of reference. He has therefore agreed that Dr Kirkup will submit his Report in February 2015.
