National seminar on renewable energy for rural development

Organised by Ashden India Renewable Energy Collective, the seminar was held in Kolkata on 24 June.

Scott Furssedonn-Wood, British Deputy High Commissioner, Kolkata today (24 June 2014) announced the UK Government’s support in developing a grid-connected rooftop solar scheme for Kolkata and capacity building programme at the National Seminar on Renewable Energy.

The event was organised by Ashden India Renewable Energy Collective and was inaugurated by Manish Gupta, Minister-in-charge, Department of Power and Non-conventional Energy Sources, Government of West Bengal. Also present at the event were Sarah Butler Sloss, Founder Director, Ashden, UK and senior representatives from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and Ashden award winners from across India.

The rooftop solar guidelines is being developed under a Memorandum of Understanding between the UK and Kolkata Municipal Corporation for a low carbon and climate resilient Kolkata.
