Craven Arms level crossing when approached from the north.

At around 10:00 hrs on 22 July 2024, an engineering train was signalled across Craven Arms manually controlled barrier level crossing while the crossing’s barriers were in the raised position and it was open to road vehicles. The train narrowly avoided hitting a heavy goods vehicle which was using the crossing. Nobody was injured in the incident, and no damage was caused.

We have undertaken a preliminary examination into the circumstances surrounding this incident. Having assessed the evidence which has been gathered to date, we have decided to publish a safety digest.
