New appointments to the Royal Mint Advisory Committee
The two new appointments will take up their roles on 20 November.
The Treasury has announced that academic and writer Dr Alexandra Harris and fine artist and cartographer Adam Dant have been appointed to the Royal Mint Advisory Committee (RMAC).
They will take up their roles on 20 November 2023 for a five-year term.
Economic Secretary to the Treasury Bim Afolami said:
“I am delighted that Dr Alexandra Harris and Adam Dant have agreed to serve on the Royal Mint Advisory Committee.
“Their specialist expertise and experience will be invaluable for the development of future UK coin design.”
About the appointments
Members of the Royal Mint Advisory Committee are appointed by His Majesty the King on the recommendation of the Prime Minister and the Economic Secretary to the Treasury.
These appointments are regulated by the Commissioner for Public Appointments, who provides independent assurance that appointments are made in accordance with the Government’s Principles of Public Appointments and Governance Code.
Dr Alexandra Harris and Adam Dant have confirmed they have not engaged in any political activity in the last five years.
About Alexandra Harris and Adam Dant
- Dr Alexandra Harris is an academic and writer specialising in British literature, visual arts, and cultural history. She is Professor of English at the University of Birmingham and the author of books including Romantic Moderns and Weatherland.
- Adam Dant is a fine artist and cartographer. His notable projects include works to commemorate significant events such as the 900th anniversary of St Bartholomew’s Hospital as well as the tercentenary of Sir Christopher Wren.
