Lord Coe of Ranmore KBE has been appointed the new Chair of the Sport Honours Committee in succession to Lord MacLaurin. Lord Coe is the Chairman of the London Organising Committee for the 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.
He was appointed after open advertisement of the post and interviewed in accordance with Nolan procedures. Chairs are independent of Party as well as from government. The position is unpaid and the appointment is for 4 years.
