New EU Regulation on Import and Export of Hazardous Chemicals

The European Commission has published a new Regulation, Commission Delegated Regulation 2015/2229 which concerns the import and export of hazardous chemicals.
Fenbutatin oxide is no longer approved for use as a pesticide, and has been added to the lists of chemicals contained in Parts 1 and 2 of Annex I to Regulation (EU) No 649/2012. A number of other chemicals have now been added to Annex I of Regulation 649/2012, which are subject to export notification procedure. These are:
- lead compounds
- dibutyltin compounds
- trichlorobenzene
- pentachloroethane
- 1,1,2,2-tetrachloroethane
- 1,1,1,2-tetrachloroethane
- 1,1,2-trichloroethane
- 1,1-dichloroethene
In addition, endosulfan has been added to Annex V of Regulation 649/2012 as a POP to be consistent with the listing of this class of chemicals under the Stockholm Convention.
