New Government Chief Commercial Officer appointed

Gareth Rhys Williams has been appointed as Government Chief Commercial Officer for the Civil Service.

Following a full and open competition, John Manzoni (Chief Executive of the Civil Service and Cabinet Office Permanent Secretary) is pleased to announce the appointment of Gareth Rhys Williams as Government Chief Commercial Officer (GCCO) for the Civil Service.

Most recently Chief Executive Officer of PHS Group, Gareth will now lead the commercial function across the Civil Service, acting as head of profession to around 4,000 commercial professionals across government. Gareth takes up this new post on 14 March 2016.

Gareth brings an extraordinary amount of experience in the commercial sector, with a consistent and impressive record of delivery. He will play a pivotal role in making sure every deal provides value for the taxpayer. I would also like to thank Chris Hall for all of his hard work as the interim GCCO over the past few months.
