New member appointed to the School Teachers’ Review Body

Jeanne Watson joins the review body that looks into pay, professional duties and working time of school teachers in England and Wales.

Jeanne Watson has been appointed as a new member of the School Teachers’ Review Body (STRB). Jeanne took up the position earlier this month and will be in post for 3 years.

The STRB provides independent advice to the government on pay and conditions for teachers and school leaders in England and Wales.

Dr Patricia Rice, Chair of the STRB said:

I am delighted to welcome Jeanne Watson to the review body. I am confident that her knowledge and experience as a former headteacher will assist the review body in its important work in considering pay and conditions for teachers.

Appointment process

The appointment process was run in accordance with the Code of Practice issued by the Office of the Commissioner for Public Appointments (OCPA) and was made on merit. Jeanne Watson confirmed that she has no political activity to declare and holds no other public appointments.

Biography

Jeanne Watson was a secondary headteacher for 22 years. Her experience includes 16 years as the headteacher of The Brooksbank School in Calderdale, an 11 to 18 academy, as well as 2 positions as the Executive Headteacher in schools requiring support. Jeanne has also worked as the chair of Calderdale Secondary Heads Association with responsibility for school-to-school improvement, and she has extensive experience of partnership working, headteacher training and local authority management.
