Ministers from across Government have been taking part in a series of induction sessions devised by Government Campus to support them in delivering their political priorities.

The first half-day session, National Security, Crisis, Resilience and Communications, was a collaboration between Government Campus and the National Security Secretariat and was held in the COBRA suite.

The second session, Getting Things Done in Government, was hosted by Cabinet Office Permanent Secretary and Civil Service Chief Operating Officer Cat Little who was joined by senior civil servants from across government to share insights into the most effective ways of turning ideas into Acts of Parliament.

A third session is scheduled for September.

Government Campus’ parliamentary capability lead Daniel Wood, pictured, said:

“It is the first time we’ve run a programme of this type for a brand new government and the aim is to create effective partnership working between ministers and the most senior officials who serve them.

“The government machine is both vast and complex and we hope these sessions help ease the learning curve for first-time ministers.”
