New Ofqual chair announced
Roger Taylor will take up the post early in the New Year.
Secretary of State for Education Justine Greening today (16 December 2016) announced the appointment of Roger Taylor as the next Chair of Ofqual.
Mr Taylor, who is currently a member of the Ofqual board and has a career spanning the public sector, business and the media, will take up his post in January.
He replaces Amanda Spielman, who will take over from Sir Michael Wilshaw as Ofsted’s Chief Inspector.
Education Secretary Justine Greening said:
Roger brings experience from a range of organisations, including Ofqual itself, where he has served as a member of the board. I am confident he and Chief Regulator Sally Collier will make a strong team.
Mr Taylor is a member of Ofqual’s Audit and Risk Committee and chairs its Vocational Advisory Group. His other board-level appointments include positions on the advisory group for HM Inspectorate of Probation and the Nuffield Health Board Quality and Safety Committee.
He currently works with The Careers & Enterprise Company and he co-founded Dr Foster, a health information business. He has also worked as an advisor to the Care Quality Commission and was a Financial Times journalist.
