Nick Clegg meets President of Turkey

Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg has today met with Abdullah Gul, President of the Republic of Turkey.

The Deputy Prime Minister  congratulated President Gul on being named the Chatham House International Statesman of the Year.

He also expressed the Coalition Government’s firm support for Turkey’s EU membership plans and commitment to boosting trade and investment between the UK and Turkey.

Mr Clegg accepted an invitation from President Gul to visit Turkey early in 2011.
