Non-Executive Commissioner to the Forestry Commission appointed

Neil Sachdev appointed for a three-year term

By Royal Warrant, His Majesty King Charles III has appointed Nilesh (Neil) Sachdev as a Non-Executive Commissioner to the Forestry Commission.

Neil Sachdev has been appointed for a three-year term, which commenced on 1 December 2024. As a Non-Executive Commissioner, Neil will play a pivotal role in establishing a strong, sustainable future for the Forestry Commission.

This appointment has been made in accordance with the Ministerial Governance Code on Public Appointments. All appointments have been made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process.

Biography

  • Neil Sachdev MBE, MBA is an experienced Independent Chair and Non-Executive Director with a distinguished career spanning leadership roles across private and public sectors.
  • He is currently Chair of HM Land Registry, East West Rail Co, and the Defence Infrastructure Organisation for the Ministry of Defence. Neil also holds Non-Executive Director positions with Network Rail and the London Continental Railway.
  • Neil was awarded an MBE for his contributions to energy efficiency and sustainability, reflecting his passion for the field. He holds an MBA from Stirling University, earned while beginning his career at Tesco.

The Forestry Commission

  • The Forestry Commission is a non-Ministerial Government department that has a key role in helping the Government achieve its tree planting objectives and is responsible for protecting, expanding and promoting the sustainable management of woodlands in society and the environment.
