Ofqual responds to government's pledge to reduce teacher workload

The Department for Education has set out new guidance on how it will look to introduce future policy changes. Ofqual welcomes these changes.

Glenys Stacey, Chief Regulator said:

Today’s announcement clarifies how curriculum and qualification policies will be introduced in England in future. The changes provide additional certainty for schools and colleges, and we welcome the announcement.

  • Ofqual is a non-ministerial department independent of government. The Ministerial ‘override’ referenced in today’s announcement by the Department for Education will not therefore apply to Ofqual.
