During his recent visit to Sancti Spiritus, British Ambassador to Cuba, Tim Cole, dropped by Escambray newspaper office to meet his Director and the publication’s team.
During his meeting with Escambray’s staff, the Ambassador was briefed about the work, the routines and skills of journalists and on how they manage to turn local issues into materials of great interest for global readers.
Tim Cole, who first knew about Escambray newspaper in Twitter, expressed his interest for its articles and stories about key topics of Sancti Spiritu’s daily life; his admiration for the Cuban culture, particularly its music, and highlighted the world impact of the Rolling Stones concert in Havana last March. Referring to “his four wonderful years” in Cuba he said: “What I admire the most about the island is the Cuban identity and the kindness of the people”.
Before he left the newspaper’s premises journalist Pastor Guzman offered Tim Cole a framed replica of his 2012 article “Winston Churchill could have died in Arroyo Blanco”.
