Chargé d’Affaires Simon Mustard attended the opening event of the “Buckingham” playground at Al-Faisaliyeh Secondary School for Girls in Muwaqqar in north western Jordan, which have been renovated with UK funding.

In collaboration with AlJude Scientific Care, a competition was held among students to name their school playground. The winning student named the playground “Buckingham” and was awarded a trophy at the opening event. The now fully equipped playground provides a safe environment for students and the local community to play sports and practice their football, basketball and volleyball skills. During the event, Simon participated in the planting of trees in the School garden, watched part of a football match between students and presented awards and trophies to the winning team.

Speaking at the event, Chargé d’Affaires Simon said: “I was delighted to see that our small contribution and support goes a long way by providing an equipped and safe environment for students and for the wider local community who will be able to use the playgrounds after schools hours.”
