Overnight resurfacing on M6 between junctions 2 and 3 near Coventry
Overnight resurfacing and road marking work will be carried out on the M6 southbound between junctions 2 and 3 near Coventry from Monday 15 December.
The work, which will take six nights, requires full closures of both carriageways. The southbound carriageway will be closed for the first three nights followed by the northbound for the next three. The closures take place from 10pm to 6am each night.
Highways Agency project manager Purnima Kaul said:
This work will involve resurfacing a number of areas of both carriageways and hard shoulders and replacing all road markings and studs along the three-mile section between the two junctions.
To do that safely we need to close the road, so advise people to allow extra time for their journeys.
During the closures the following diversions will be in place:
-
M6 through traffic will leave the M6 at junction 2 and take the A46, A45 and A446 to rejoin the motorway at junction 4, or vice versa.
-
M42 north and southbound traffic wanting to join the M6 southbound will continue on the M42 to junction 6 and take the A45 and A46 to M6 junction 2.
-
M6 Toll southbound traffic wanting to join the M6 southbound should join the M42 southbound to junction 6 and follow the same diversion.
