Mohamed Abdullatif and Mostafa Fathalla, two medalists in the National Egyptian Paralympian team, will be running in the second annual Aswan42, or Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation Marathon, taking place on February 2nd, 2018, with support from the British Embassy and The TriFactory.

The cooperation marks the latest stride in the British Embassy’s Zaye Zayek campaign, which was launched in December 2017 as part of the British Embassy’s Inspire Egypt initiative. Zaye Zayak is celebrating inspirational disabled Egyptians, as well as Egyptian organizations, companies and NGOs that aim to improve social inclusion, such as working to increase disabled access to education and work opportunities.

UK Ambassador to Egypt HMA John Casson:

We are proud to collaborate with home-grown sports company The Trifactory and the Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundations in Aswan42 Marathon for the second year. This year, we are not only supporting inspiring amateur athletes getting fit, but raising awareness of the role paralympians bring to this great nation with their passion and determination who serve as a reminder to us all that this century’s great nations will be the ones that give opportunities for all.

The TriFactory founder and managing director, Ayman Hakky:

It’s an honour for us at The TriFactory to welcome two accomplished Paralympian athletes such as Mohamed and Mostafa at the Aswan Marathon who will surely inspire all the race participants with their presence.

The Trifactory marathon, organized in collaboration with the Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation, will see 100% of proceeds from tickets being donated to the Aswan Heart Centre. This is a specialized cardiac centre founded by Professor Sir Magdi Yacoub offering state-of-the-art free-of-charge medical service to the Egyptian people, particularly to the underprivileged.

Aswan42 will provide runners with an amazing running experience along the banks of the river Nile. Runners can choose from the full marathon, half-marathon and 10K race distances, while children aged 10 and under will be able to participate in a 1K race.

Aswan42 will be an opportunity to showcase the beautiful city of Aswan to the world, with runners from more than a dozen nationalities already signed up.
