Paterson welcomes prisons resolution

Secretary of State, Owen Paterson has congratulated David Ford on the successful resolution of the dispute between republican prisoners and prison management at Maghaberry prison.

Mr Paterson said:

This was a significant challenge to the new Department of Justice and, under David Ford’s leadership, this complex and difficult situation has been resolved in a way which maintains the integrity of the prison and the welfare and safety of both prisoners and staff.

This is to be warmly welcomed.
