The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 6 January 2017 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 28 to 35a, Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire/Yorkshire: smart motorway

Until winter 2016, there will be various restrictions in place on the M1 between junctions 28 and 35a to allow for the construction of the smart motorway. These include lane closures, speed restrictions, hard shoulder running and overnight slip road or carriageway closures.

On Monday 9 January the northbound exit slip at junction 34 and the southbound up and over at junction 33 as well as the M18 southbound to northbound M1 link will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am.

On Tuesday 10 January the southbound entry slip at junction 33 and the M18 southbound to northbound M1 link will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am.

On Wednesday 11 January the southbound entry and exit slip at Woodall services, the northbound up and over at junction 33, southbound up and over at junction 34, southbound entry slip at junction 33 and the M18 southbound to northbound M1 link will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am.

On Thursday 12 January the northbound entry and exit slip at Woodall services, northbound entry and exit slip at junction 29, northbound up and over at junction 33 and the M18 southbound to northbound M1 link will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am.

On Friday 13 January the northbound entry and exit slip at junction 29 and the southbound entry and exit slip at junction 30 will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am.

On Saturday 14 January the northbound entry slip at junction 33 and the northbound exit slip at junction 34 will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am. There will be daytime works with one lane closed north and southbound between junctions 31 and 32 from 6am until 8pm.

On Sunday 15 January the northbound entry slip at junction 33 and the northbound exit slip at junction 34 will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am.

M1 junction 19 to 16, Northamptonshire: smart motorway

From Monday 9 January until Friday 13 January the northbound carriageway will have two lanes closed between junctions 16 and 17 and two lanes closed between junctions 17 and 18, while the carriageway will be fully closed between junctions 18 and 19 from 9pm to 6am.

The northbound entry slip at junction 18 and the exit slip at junction 19 will be closed at the same time.

Diversion routes will be clearly signposted.

From Monday 9 January until Friday 13 January two lanes will be closed southbound between junctions 18 and 16 from 9pm to 6am.
