Planned roadworks in and around the M25: Weekly summary for Monday 24 August - Sunday 30 August

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 21 August 2015 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 1 Brent Cross, Greater London: Electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will start this week. The northbound entry exit slip road from the A406 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 24 August for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Brent Cross.

M1 junction 5 Watford, Hertfordshire: Litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The northbound entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 24 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the M1 southbound to junction 4 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 6.

M1 junction 6 Harlow, Hertfordshire: Litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The northbound entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 25 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the A405, A414 to M1 junction 8. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 8.

The southbound entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 26 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the M1 northbound to junction 8 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 5.

M4 junction 3 Hounslow to junction 1 Chiswick, Greater London: Drainage work

Work to maintain road user safety by carrying out drainage maintenance will start this week. The eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 24 August for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A4 and A312.

M4 junction 4 Heathrow, Middlesex: Carriageway repair

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway repairs will start this week. The westbound entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 27 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via M4 eastbound to junction 3 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 5.

M4 junction 4b (M25), Middlesex: Signage work / electrical work

Work to keep road users informed will start this week. The westbound link roads to the M25 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 24 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M4 junction 5.

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will start this week. The west and east bound link roads to the M25 anti-clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 26 August. A clearly signed diversion M25 clockwise to junction 16, M40 eastbound to junction 1 and return.

M20 junction 2 Wrotham, Kent: Electrical works

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will start this week. The eastbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 26 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 4, M20 westbound to junction 3, the M26 and the A20.

M25 junction 4 Bromley, Kent: Drainage work

Work to maintain road user safety by carrying out drainage maintenance will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 25 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 clockwise to junction 5, the A21 and the A25 Morleys roundabout.

M25 junction 10 (A3) Guildford, Surrey: Carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway resurfacing will continue this week. The clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 24 August for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the junction 10 exit and entry slip roads.

M25 junction 16 (M40), Buckinghamshire: Carriageway repairs

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway repairs will start this week. The clockwise link road to the M40 eastbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 24 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M40 westbound to junction 2.

M25 junction 18 Chorleywood, Hertfordshire: Carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the carriageway will start this week. The anti-clockwise exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 24 August for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via M25 clockwise to junction 19 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 17.

M25 junction 20 Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire: Bridge joint replacement work

Work to improve journeys by replacement bridge joints continues this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 24 August for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 anti-clockwise to junction 18 and return.

M25 junction 23 South Mimms, Hertfordshire: Carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by sweeping the carriageway will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 24 August. A clearly signed diversion will be for the entry slip road in place M25 clockwise to junction 24 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 22.

M25 junction 28 Brentwood, Essex: Junction improvement

Work to improve journeys by improving this junction will continue this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 24 August for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 26 and return.

M25 junction 31 Lakeside, Essex: Dart Charge construction work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will continue this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 24 August for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 30.

M40 junction 1 Denham, Buckinghamshire: Carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will continue this week. The westbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 24 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 2.

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The westbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 27 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Swakleys roundabout.

A13/M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: Major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. Narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day. There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.

The eastbound carriageway between the M25 junction 30 roundabout and North Stifford will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 24 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the West Thurrock Arterial Road and the A1012.

The westbound carriageway between North Stifford and the M25 junction 30, including the A126 entry slip road, will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 25 August for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012 and the West Thurrock Arterial Road.

The eastbound entry slip road from the M25 junction 30 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Tuesday 25 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306, West Thurrock Arterial Road and the A1012.

A23 Hooley, Surrey: Gas main replacement work

Road users are advised that Southern Gas Networks roadworks on the A23 to replace the gas main continue this week. The work started on Monday 27 July and is expected to last approximately 7 weeks.

There will be narrow lanes and a 20mph speed limit in place for the duration of the work. Access to and from Church Lane and Star Lane will be closed throughout the project with signed diversions in place.

A282 junction 1a Swanscombe, Kent: Dart Charge construction work / tunnel maintenance

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing will continue this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 8.30pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 25 August for 3 nights and from Friday 21 August for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A282 southbound to junction 1b and return.

The southbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 24 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the junction 1a exit and entry slip roads.

A282 (M25) Dartford – Thurrock Crossing: Maintenance work

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing will continue this week. The following closures will be in place, with a fully signed diversion for oversized vehicles for the northbound east tunnel closures.

  • Monday 24 August (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Tuesday 25 August (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel
  • Wednesday 26 August (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel
  • Thursday 27 August (8.30pm and 5.30am): northbound west tunnel

The QEII Bridge will have three (of four) lanes closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 24 August for 4 nights.
