Planned roadworks in and around the M25: weekly summary for Monday 29 February to Sunday 6 March

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 26 February 2016 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.
M1 junction 2 Mill Hill, Greater London: bridge joint replacement
Work to improve journeys by replacing the bridge expansion joints over the A1 continues this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 29 February for 7 consecutive nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A41 to join the M1 at junction 4.
M1 junction 5 Watford: litter clearance
Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The southbound entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 6am, on Friday 4 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via junction 6 and return. A clearly signed diversion for the exit slip road will be in place via junction 4.
M1 junction 6a (M25), Hertfordshire: litter clearance
Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The southbound link road to the M25 clockwise and anti-clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 3 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M1 junction 6 and the A405 to M25 junction 21a.
M3 junction 1 Sunbury, Surrey: electrical work
Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will start this week. The northbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 29 February for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A316 northbound to the Snakey Lane junction and return. The southbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am on Monday 29 February. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A316 northbound to the Snakey Lane junction and return.
M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: smart motorway improvement
Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.
The M3 northbound junction 2 link road to the M25 in both directions will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 1 March for 4 nights. Work on Saturday morning will finish at 7am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place from the M3 junction 4, via the A331 and A30 to M25 junction 13.
The M3 southbound carriageway between the slip roads at junction 2 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am, from Monday 29 February for 4 nights. Work on Saturday morning will finish at 7am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 anti-clockwise to junction 11 and return.
M4 junctions 1 Chiswick to 3 Hounslow: drainage work
Work to maintain road user safety by carrying out drainage maintenance will start this week. The carriageway will be closed in both directions overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Tuesday 1 March for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via A4 and the A312.
M11 junction 6 (M25), Essex: carriageway resurfacing
Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway resurfacing will start this week. The northbound and southbound link roads to the M25 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Tuesday 1 March and between 11pm and 6am on Friday 4 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for southbound traffic via the M11, A406 and A12 to M25 junction 28. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for northbound traffic via M25 junction 26 and return, M11, A406 and A12 to M25 junction 28.
M23 junction 8 (M25), Surrey: bridge inspection
Work to improve safety by carrying out inspections on the link roads above the M25 will start this week. The southbound link roads to the M25 in both directions will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 29 February for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M23 junction 9 and return.
M25 junction 5 Sevenoaks, Kent: carriageway sweeping
Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The northbound link road to the M25 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 29 February. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 4 and return.
M25 junction 6 Godstone, Surrey: carriageway sweeping
Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 4 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via junction 4 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 8 and return.
M25 junction 8 Reigate, Surrey: carriageway resurfacing
Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway resurfacing will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 2 March for 2 nights and on Sunday 6 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 6 and return.
M25 junction 10 (A3), Surrey: carriageway resurfacing
Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway resurfacing will continue this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 29 February for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 9 and return.
M25 junctions 11 Chertsey, Surrey: signage work
Work to keep road users informed will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 1 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 10.
M25 junctions 11 Chertsey to 10 (A3), Surrey: carriageway repair
Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway repairs will continue this week. 2 lanes on the anti-clockwise carriageway will be closed between 5am and 9am on Sunday 6 March. In addition, 1 lane on the junction 11 entry slip road will also be closed.
M25 junction 12 (M3), Surrey: smart motorway improvement
Work to improve journeys by carrying out smart motorway improvements on the M3 will continue this week. The link road from the M25 anti-clockwise to the M3 southbound will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am, from Monday 29 February for 5 nights. Work on Saturday morning will finish at 7am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 11 and return.
M25 junction 15 (M4), Greater London: electrical work
Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will start this week. The anti-clockwise carriageway will be closed between the slip roads overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 4 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M4 junction 4 and return.
M25 junction 17 Maple Cross, Hertfordshire: signage work
Work to keep road users informed will start this week. The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Thursday 3 March for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 16, M40 to junction 1 and return and M25 clockwise to junction 17.
M25 junction 21a St Albans, Hertfordshire: litter clearance
Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 1 March. A clearly signed diversion for the entry slip road will be in place via junction 22 and return. A clearly signed diversion for the exit slip road will be in place via junction 20 and return.

M25 junction 23 South Mimms, Hertfordshire: carriageway sweeping
Work to improve journeys by carriageway sweeping will start this week. The clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 29 February. A clearly signed diversion for the entry slip road will be in place via junction 22 and return. A clearly signed diversion for the exit slip road will be in place via junction 24 and return.
M25 junction 24 Potters Bar, Hertfordshire: carriageway sweeping
Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The clockwise exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 1 March. A clearly signed diversion for the exit slip road will be in place via junction 25 and return. A clearly signed diversion for the entry slip road will be in place via junction 23 and return.
M25 junction 25 (A10), Hertfordshire: carriageway sweeping
Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 3 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 26 and return.

M25 junctions 25 (A10) to 24 Potters Bar, Hertfordshire: carriageway surveying
Work to maintain safety by carrying out carriageway surveying will start this week. The anti-clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 29 February for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A10, A414 and A1(M) to M25 junction 23.
M25 junctions 27 (M11) to 28 (A12), Essex: carriageway resurfacing
Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway resurfacing will start this week. The clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Tuesday 1 March and between 11pm and 6am on Friday 4 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M11, A406 and A12 to M25 junction 28.
M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement
Work to improve journeys by carrying out major improvements at junction 30 will continue this week. The clockwise carriageway will be closed between the slip roads overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Thursday 3 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip roads at junction 30.
M25 junction 31 Lakeside, Essex: barrier installation
Work to improve safety by carrying out barrier installation work continues this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 29 February for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 30 and return.
A2 Dartford Heath, Kent: carriageway resurfacing
Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway resurfacing will start this week. The carriageway will be closed between the slip roads overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 29 February. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip roads.
A13/M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement
Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. On the A13, narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place and on the M25, narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit are in place. A free recovery service will operate 24 hours a day. There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.
The westbound A13 carriageway between North Stifford (A1012) and Wennington (A1306) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 29 February, for 3 nights and between 11pm and 5.30am on Friday 4 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012 and A1306.
The eastbound A13 carriageway between Wennington (A1306) and North Stifford (A1012) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 29 February for 2 nights and from Thursday 3 March for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306 and A1012.
The M25 clockwise will be closed between the slip roads at junction 30 overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Thursday 3 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the junction 30 exit and entry slip roads.

A25 (M25) Sevenoaks, Kent: inspection work
Work to improve journeys by carrying out inspections will start this week. The slip road from the A25 Westerham Road to the M25 link road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Wednesday 2 March for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A21, Morleys roundabout and return.
A40 junction 1 Denham, Buckinghamshire: carriageway resurfacing
Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The westbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 3 March for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M40 junction 2 and return.
A282 junction 1a Swanscombe, Kent: maintenance work
Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing by carrying out tunnel maintenance continues this week. The northbound anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 8.30pm and 5.30am, from Monday 29 February for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 1b and return.
A282 (M25) Dartford – Thurrock Crossing: maintenance work
Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing continues this week. The following closures will be in place with a fully signed diversion for oversized vehicles for the northbound east tunnel closures:
- Monday 29 February (8:30pm to 5:30am) northbound west tunnel
- Wednesday 2 March (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel
- Thursday 3 March (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
- Friday 4 March (9pm to 6am): northbound east tunnel
- Saturday 5 March (9pm to 6am): northbound east tunnel
- Sunday 6 March (9pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
The QEII Bridge will have 3 of 4 lanes closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am from Monday 29 February for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm.
