The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 31 July 2015 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M3 junction 1 (A316) Sunbury, Surrey: electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will start this week. The eastbound exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 3 August for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A316, A311 and A308.

The westbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Thursday 6 August for 3 consecutive nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A308 and A311.

M4 junction 2 Staines, Greater London: structure strengthening work

Work to maintain road user safety by carrying out structure strengthening continues this week. The westbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 3 August for 5 nights and also on Sunday 9 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 3 and the A312.

M20 junctions 1 Swanley to 3 (M26), Kent: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing starts this week. The eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 3 August for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A20 and M26.

M25 junction 6 Godstone, Surrey: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 7 August. A clearly signed diversion for the entry slip road will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise, junction 5, A21, A25 and return. A clearly signed diversion for the exit slip road will be in place via junction 8.

M25 junction 7 (M23), Surrey: structure maintenance

Work to maintain safety by carrying out structure maintenance will continue this week. The anti-clockwise link roads to the northbound and southbound M23 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 3 August for 7 consecutive nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 6.

M25 junction 8 Reigate, Surrey: structure inspection

Work to improve journeys by carrying out structure inspections starts this week. The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 5 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 6.

M25 junction 15 (M4), Middlesex: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The anti-clockwise link road to the M4 westbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 6 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 14.

The clockwise link road to the M4 eastbound and westbound carriageways will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 7 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 17.

M25 junction 20 Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire: bridge joint replacement

Work to maintain journeys by undertaking bridge joint replacement will continue this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Saturday 8 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A41, A405 to M25 junction 21a.

M25 junction 22 London Colney, Hertfordshire: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Wednesday 5 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 anti-clockwise to junction 21a and return.

The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Thursday 6 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 clockwise to junction 23 and return.

M25 junction 25 (A10), Hertfordshire: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 7 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 24 and return.

M25 junction 28 Brentford, Essex: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 3 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 26.

M40 junction 1a (M25), Buckinghamshire: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing continues this week. The westbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 6 August for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 2.

A1(M) junction 5 Lemsford, Hertfordshire: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 3 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the B197, B653 and A6129 to join the A1(M) at junction 4.

A3 Hook Bypass – A244 Esher, Surrey: footbridge replacement

Work to improve safety by replacing a footbridge will continue this week. The carriageway in both directions and the Esher entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 7am, on Saturday 8 August and between 10pm and 5.30am on Sunday 9 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A244, A307 and A309.

A13/M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. Narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day. There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.

The westbound A13 carriageway between North Stifford and Wennington, including the entry slip roads from the A126 and the M25 junction 30, will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 3 August for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012, West Thurrock Arterial Road and the A1306.

A21 Sevenoaks, Kent: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The northbound link road to the M25 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 3 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 4 and return.

A23 Hooley, Surrey: gas main replacement work

Road users are being advised that Southern Gas Networks roadworks on the A23 to replace the gas main continue this week. The works started on Monday 27 July and are expected to last approximately 7 weeks.

There will be narrow lanes and a 20mph speed limit in place for the duration of the work. Access to and from Church Lane and Star Lane will be closed throughout the project with signed diversions in place.

A282 junction 1a Swanscombe, Kent: Dart Charge construction work/tunnel maintenance

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing will continue this week. The northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 3 August for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip roads.

The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 8:30pm and 5.30am, from Friday 7 August for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A282 southbound to junction 1b and return.

A282 (M25) Dartford – Thurrock Crossing: maintenance work

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing will continue this week. The following closures will be in place, with a fully signed diversion for oversized vehicles for the northbound east tunnel closures.

  • Monday 3 August (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Tuesday 4 August (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Wednesday 5 August (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Thursday 6 August (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel closure
  • Friday 7 August (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel closure
  • Saturday 8 August (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel closure
  • Sunday 9 August (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel closure
