Planned roadworks in and around the M25: weekly summary for Monday 3 October to Sunday 9 October

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 30 September 2016 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.
M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: smart motorway improvement
Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways, with a free recovery services operating 24 hours a day.
The northbound carriageway between junctions 4a and 2 will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Monday 3 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A327 and A30 to M25 junction 13.
The southbound carriageway between junctions 2 and 4 will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 3 October for 5 nights. Work on Saturday morning will finish at 7am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 13, A30 and the A331.
M4 junction 4b (M25), Greater London: bridge inspection
Work to maintain safety by carrying out bridge inspections will start this week. The dedicated link road from the M4 eastbound to the M25 anti-clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 3 October for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 16, M40 eastbound to junction 1 and return.
M11 junction 6 (M25), Essex: carriageway sweeping
Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The dedicated link road from the M11 northbound to the M25 anti-clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 6 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M11 junction 7 and return.
M20 junction 1 Swanley, Kent: vegetation cutting and planting
Work to improve journeys by carrying out vegetation cutting and planting will start this week. The eastbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 6am, from Friday 7 October for 3 consecutive nights. Work on Saturday and Sunday will start at 10pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A224 Crittalls Corner and return.
M23 junction 8 (M25), Surrey: carriageway sweeping
Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The dedicated link road from the M23 southbound to the M25 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 3 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 6 and return.
M25 junction 2 (A2), Kent: resurfacing
Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The anti-clockwise carriageway between the slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Saturday 8 October for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip roads.
M25 junction 6 Godstone, Surrey: carriageway sweeping
Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping continues this week. The anti-clockwise exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Tuesday 4 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 4 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via junction 8 and return.
M25 junction 7 (M23), Surrey: carriageway sweeping
Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The dedicated link road from the M25 clockwise to the M23 in both directions will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 3 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 8 and return.
M25 junction 9 Leatherhead, Surrey: resurfacing
Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 3 October for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 8 and return.
M25 junctions 11 Chertsey to 10 (A3), Surrey: bridge joint replacement
Work to improve journeys by carrying out bridge joint replacement on the structure that carries the M25 over the River Wey and the South West Trains railway line continues this week. The anti-clockwise carriageway and junction 11 entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 8am, on Saturday 8 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A317, A320, A245 and A3 to junction 10.
M25 junction 14 (A3113), Greater London: bridge inspection
Work to maintain safety by carrying out bridge inspections will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 5 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 13 and return.
M25 Terminal 5 Spur Road, Greater London: bridge inspection
Work to maintain safety by carrying out bridge inspections will start this week. The dedicated link road from the spur road westbound to the M25 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Wednesday 5 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 13 and return.
M25 junction 15 (M4), Greater London: bridge inspection
Work to maintain safety by carrying out bridge inspections will start this week. The dedicated link road from the M25 clockwise to the M4 eastbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 5 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M4 westbound to junction 5 and return.

A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M40 eastbound to junction 1 and return.
M25 junction 20 Kings Langley, Hertfordshire: electrical repair
Work to maintain safety by carrying out electrical repairs will start this week. The clockwise carriageway between the slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 4 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip roads.
M25 junction 23 South Mimms, Hertfordshire: sign maintenance / white lining
Work to maintain safety by carrying out sign maintenance and white lining work will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 5 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 22 and return.

M25 junction 25 (A10), Greater London: bridge inspection
Work to improve journeys by carrying out bridge inspections will start this week. The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 4 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 24 and return.
The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 6 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 26 and return.
M25 junction 26 Waltham Abbey, Essex: resurfacing
Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 3 October for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion for the entry slip road will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 25 and return. A clearly signed diversion for the exit slip road will be in place via junction 28 and return.
M25 junction 21 (M1), Hertfordshire: white lining
Work to maintain safety by carrying out white lining work will start this week. The dedicated link road from the M25 clockwise to the M1 northbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am on Wednesday 5 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 21a, A405 and M1 junction 6.
M25 junctions 29 (A127) to 30 (A13), Essex: major improvement
Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. The clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 5 October for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A127, A128 and A13.
M25 junctions 30 (Thurrock) to 31 (Lakeside), Essex: major improvement
Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. On the A13, narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place and on the M25, narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit are in place. A free recovery service will operate 24 hours a day. There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.
A temporary road layout is in use on the northbound link road between junctions 31 and 30. The layout will remain in place 24/7 to enable the construction of a retaining wall. Drivers are advised to plan their journeys and allow additional time.
The clockwise (southbound) link road from junction 30 to junction 31 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 3 October for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A13, A1306 and M25 junction 31.
The anti-clockwise carriageway between junctions 31 and 30 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 3 October for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the dedicated link road between junctions 31 and 30.
M40 junction 1a (M25), Buckinghamshire: resurfacing
Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The dedicated link road from the M40 eastbound to the M25 in both directions will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 3 October for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 1 and return.
A1(M) junctions 1 (M25) to 2 Welham Green, Hertfordshire: resurfacing
Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing continues this week. The northbound carriageway and junction 1 entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 6 October. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 22, A1081, A414 to the A1(M) junction 3.
A2 Dartford Heath, Kent: electrical repair
Work to maintain safety by carrying out electrical repairs will start this week. The eastbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 3 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A223 Black Prince Interchange and return.
A2 (M25), Kent: bridge inspection
Work to maintain safety by carrying out bridge inspections will start this week. The eastbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 5 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the B255 Bean Interchange and return.
A5 Brockley Hill, Edgware, Greater London: bridge joint replacement
Work to improve journeys by carrying out bridge joint replacement on the structure that carries the A5 Brockley Hill over the M1 starts this week. The carriageway in both directions between Wood Lane and the A41 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Sunday 9 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A41, Spur Road and the A5.
A13/M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement
Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. On the A13, narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place and on the M25, narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit are in place. A free recovery service will operate 24 hours a day. There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.
The westbound A13 between North Stifford (A1012) and M25 junction 30 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 3 October for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012, A1306 and M25 junction 31.
The eastbound A13 between Wennington (A1306) and North Stifford (A1012) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 6 October for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306, M25 junction 31, A1306 and A1012.

A282 (M25) Dartford – Thurrock Crossing: maintenance
Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing continues this week.
The following closures will be in place with a fully signed diversion for oversized vehicles for the northbound east tunnel closures:
- Monday 3 October (8.30pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
- Tuesday 4 October (8.30pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
- Wednesday 5 October (8.30pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
- Thursday 6 October (8.30pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
- Friday 7 October (9pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
- Saturday 8 October (8.30pm to 6am) northbound west tunnel
- Sunday 9 October (8.30pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
The QEII Bridge will have three (of four) lanes closed, overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 3 October for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm.
A282 junction 1a Swanscombe, Kent: tunnel maintenance
Work to maintain safety by carrying out tunnel maintenance continues this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am, from Friday 7 October for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A282 southbound to junction 1b and return.
St Albans Road, South Mimms, Hertfordshire: bridge joint replacement
Work to improve journeys by carrying out bridge joint replacement on the structure that carries St Albans Road over the A1(M) starts this week. The carriageway in both directions between Greyhound Lane and Swanland Road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 3 October for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm.
A clearly signed non-motorway diversion will be in place via Swanland Road, Dixons Hill Road, Tollgate Road, Coursers Road, A1081 and the B556 and vice versa. A clearly signed motorway diversion will be in place via the B556, A1081, and M25 and vice versa.
