Planned roadworks in Central Southern England: Weekly summary for Monday 17 – Sunday 23 November 2014

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 17 November 2014 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M27 junctions 2 to 3 River Blackwater Ower, Hampshire: Re-waterproofing

M27 junction 5 Eastleigh, Hampshire: Junction improvement

Narrow lanes and a reduced speed limit will be in place while junction improvement work takes place. For further details of this scheme visit: http://www.highways.gov.uk/m27j5

M3 junction 2 (Thorpe) to 4a (Farnborough): Smart motorway improvements

Narrow lanes, a contra-flow and a 50mph speed limit will be in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016. In addition, the southbound exit and entry slip roads at junction 4a will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Tuesday 18 November for two nights. M3 junction 6 Black Dam improvement Basingstoke, Hampshire

M3 junction 9 Winchester, Hampshire: Slip road surface repairs

The northbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, for five consecutive week nights from Thursday 20 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 10 and the A272 Spitfire Link.

M4 junctions 8/9 Maidenhead to 11 Reading, Berkshire: Bridge maintenance

M4 junctions 12 Theale to 14 Hungerford, West Berkshire: Topographical surveys

Various lane closures in both directions will be in place overnight, between 10pm and 6am, for three weeks from Monday 17 November (Monday to Friday only).

M4 junctions 13 Chieveley to 14 Hungerford, West Berkshire: Resurfacing work

Lane closures are in place on the westbound carriageway overnight, between 10pm and 6am, until Monday 8 December (Monday to Friday only).

A3 Surrey: Road marking renewals

Overnight slip road closures will be in place overnight, between 10pm and 6am, as follows:

  • Monday 17 November: Send Services southbound exit and entry slip roads and Send Interchange southbound entry slip road
  • Tuesday 18 November: Dennis Interchange southbound entry slip road and University Interchange southbound exit and entry slip roads
  • Thursday 20 November: Hog’s Back to Longmoor southbound main carriageway
  • Friday 21 November: Shackleford to Milford southbound main carriageway and junctions with A282 Portsmouth Road and Lea Coach Road Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the next available junction.

A3 Hog’s Back Guildford, Surrey to Longmoor, Hampshire: Road surface repairs

The southbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Thursday 20 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place.

A3 Hindhead Tunnel, Surrey: Maintenance

The southbound bore will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, for four nights from Monday 17 November. A clearly signed diversion with a 40mph speed limit will be in place via a contraflow in the northbound bore. Both bores will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 9am, on Saturday 22 November. A fully signed diversion route will be in place via the A31 and A325.

The northbound and southbound exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Friday 14 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the B2070.

A303 Hampshire: Road marking renewals

The following slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm to 6am, with clearly signed diversions in place using the next suitable junction:

  • Monday 17 November: Micheldever Interchange westbound exit and entry slip roads
  • Tuesday 18 November: Overton westbound entry slip road and Upper Norton westbound access
  • Wednesday 19 November: The Avenue and Barton Stacey eastbound exit and entry slip roads
  • Thursday 20 November: Bullington Interchange eastbound exit and entry slip roads
  • Friday 21 November: Bransbury westbound exit and entry slip roads

A303 Longparish to Andover, Hampshire: safety barrier maintenance

Various lane closures in both directions will be in place overnight, between 10pm and 6am, until Friday 12 December (Monday to Friday only).

A31 Picket Post, Hampshire: Sign replacement

The westbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 17 November for two nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M27 junction 1.

A34 Hampshire, West Berkshire and Oxfordshire: Road marking renewals

Lane closures will be in place along various sections of the A34 north and southbound carriageways overnight, between 10pm and 6am until Wednesday 19 November.

A34 Whitchurch (River Test), Hampshire: Drainage repairs

There will be a lane closure in both directions overnight, between 10pm and 6am, for two nights from Thursday 20 November. The A303 Bullington Interchange northbound entry slip road will also be closed with a clearly signed diversion in place via the next available junction.

A34 Chilton to Milton, Oxfordshire: Bridge inspections

There will be a lane closure in both directions overnight, between 10pm and 6am, for six weekday nights from Monday 17 November.

A34 Peartree to Kidlington, Oxfordshire: Sign maintenance

There will be a lane closure on the northbound carriageway overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Tuesday 18 November.

A34/M40 junction 9 Wendlebury, Oxfordshire: Junction improvement

Narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit will be in place 24 hours a day, until December 2014. There are also overnight lane closures on the A34, A41 and on the roundabout. For further details of this scheme visit: http://www.highways.gov.uk/m40j9
