The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 30 September but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.
M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: smart motorway improvement
Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day.
The northbound carriageway between junctions 4a and 2 including junctions 4a, 4 and 3 entry slip road, junction 3 exit slip road and junction 2 northbound clockwise and anti-clockwise link roads will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Monday 3 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A327, A30 and M25.
The southbound carriageway between junctions 2 and 4 including the M25 clockwise and anti-clockwise link roads to the M3 southbound, junction 3 entry and exit slip roads and junction 4 exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 3 October for 4 nights and between 8pm and 7am on Friday 7 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A30 and A331.
The northbound carriageway between junctions 4a and 3 including junction 4a entry slip road, junction 4 entry and exit slip roads and junction 3 exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 4 October for 3 nights and between 8pm and 7am on Friday 7 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A327, A30 and A322.
The southbound carriageway between junctions 3 and 4 including junctions 3 entry slip road and junctions 4 exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 7am, on Saturday 8 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A322, A30 and A331.

Work to maintain road user safety by carrying out drainage maintenance takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 7 October.

M3 junction 13 Eastleigh, Hampshire: barrier repair
Work to improve safety by carrying out repairs to the barrier continues this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 14 October (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M27 junction 5.
M4 junctions 10 Wokingham to 11 Reading, Berkshire: lighting
Work to maintain safety by carrying out maintenance work on the street lighting along the M4 continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 14 October (Monday to Friday only).
M4 junctions 11 to 12 Reading, Berkshire: resurfacing
Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the eastbound carriageway near junction 12 finishes this week. The eastbound carriageway between junctions 12 and 11 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Thursday 6 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A4 (Bath Road) and A33.
M27 junction 10 Wickham, Hampshire: resurfacing
Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the eastbound entry slip road finishes this week. The slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 3 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A32 Wickham Road/Wallington Way, Delme Roundabout, and then north along the A27 to join the M27 at junction 11.
M271 junction 1 Lordshill, Hampshire: development
Work to reduce congestion and improve safety as part of the major Lidl development continues this week. Both exit slip roads at junction 1 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 28 October (Monday to Friday only). Local diversions will be in place.
A31 St Leonards, Dorset: resurfacing
Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the Woolsbridge Roundabout starts this week. Both carriageways of the A31 between the A338 Ashley Heath roundabout and the Boundary Lane roundabout will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 3 October for 11 nights (Monday to Friday only).
A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A338 Spur Road, West Parley, New Road and Ringwood Road.
A34 Bullington to Winchester, Hampshire: road marking
Work to ensure road user safety by renewing the road markings along the A34 continues this week. The A34 southbound carriageway from the A303 to the M3 at junction 9 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 5 October for 2 nights.
A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A303, A33 (non-motorway traffic) or M3 (motorway permitted vehicles).
A34 Three Maids Hill, Hampshire: road marking
Work to ensure road user safety by renewing the road markings along the A34 continues this week. The A34 northbound entry slip road at the junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 4 October.
A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Winnall Roundabout.
A34 Tot Hill, Hampshire to Speen, West Berkshire: structure survey
Work to improve journeys by carrying out structural surveys along the A34 takes place this week. Varied lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 3 October for 5 nights.
A34 East Ilsley, West Berkshire: resurfacing and road marking
Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the southbound carriageway between Gore Hill and East Ilsley, and to renew road markings between the Milton Interchange and Chieveley starts this week. The A34 southbound carriageway will be closed from the A4130 Milton Interchange to the M4 junction 13 Interchange overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 7 October.
A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A417, Wantage and A338 towards the M4/Hungerford.
A34 Hinksey Hill, Oxfordshire: road marking
Work to ensure road user safety by renewing the road markings along the A34 continues this week. The A34 northbound exit slip road at the junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 3 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Botley Interchange.
A34 Weston-on-the-Green, Oxfordshire: resurfacing
Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the A34 northbound carriageway and adjusting the road markings on the approach to the M40 roundabout takes place this week. The northbound carriageway from the Weston-on-the-Green junction to the M40 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 3 October for 3 nights.
A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the B430 to M40 Junction 10 (Weston-on-the-Green, Middleton Stoney and Ardley).
A303 Popham to Bullington Cross, Hampshire: road marking
Work to ensure road user safety by renewing the road markings along the A303 continues this week. The westbound carriageway between M3 junction 8 and the A34 Bullington Cross will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 5 October for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A33 or M3 to Winchester, then north on the A34.
A303 Shipton Bellinger, Wiltshire to Andover, Hampshire: road marking
Work to ensure road user safety by renewing the road markings along the A303 finishes this week. The eastbound carriageway between A338 Parkhouse Cross and the A343 Hundred Acre junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Tuesday 4 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Shipton Bellinger, Ludgershall and Weyhill.
