Planned roadworks in East Midlands: weekly summary for Monday 11 to Sunday 17 April 2016
Summary of planned new and on-going road improvements over the coming week.

The following summary of planned new and on-going road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 8 April but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.
M1 junction 32 to 35a, Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire/Yorkshire: smart motorway (update)
Until winter 2016, there will be various restrictions in place on the M1 between junctions 32 and 35a to allow for the construction of the smart motorway. These include lane closures, speed restrictions, hard shoulder running and overnight slip road or carriageway closures.
On Monday 11 April, the following overnight closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am:
- the southbound entry and exit slip road at junction 31
- the southbound entry slip road at junction 35a
On Tuesday 12 April, the following overnight closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am:
- the northbound entry and exit slip road at Woodall services
- the northbound entry and exit slip road at junction 31
- the southbound entry slip road at junction 35a
On Wednesday 13 April, the following overnight closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am:
- the southbound exit slip road at junction 31
- the southbound entry and exit slip road at Woodall services
- the southbound entry slip road at junction 35a
On Thursday 14 April, the following overnight closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am:
- the northbound exit slip road at junction 31
- the northbound entry slip road at junction 35
On Friday 15 April, the following overnight closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am:
- the northbound exit slip road at junction 31
- the southbound entry slip road at junction 31
On Saturday 16 April, the following overnight closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am:
- the southbound entry and exit slip road at junction 31
On Sunday 17 April, the following overnight closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am:
- the southbound entry and exit slip road at junction 31
M1 junction 19 to 16, Northamptonshire: smart motorway
There will be a series of closures on the southbound carriageway between junctions 18 and 16 in the coming week. The southbound will close each night at 10pm and will reopen the next morning at 6am. Closures are planned for the nights of 11 April to the 15 April. Watford Gap services entrance and exit slip roads will also be closed.
Diversion Route
During the closures, the following diversion will be in place: M1 southbound traffic will be diverted onto the A5 Southbound at junction 18. Traffic will follow the A5 to the cross roads with the A45 at Flore. Traffic will turn left at the traffic lights, following the A45 to re-join the M1 southbound at junction 16.
M1 junction 19, Leicestershire: road improvement scheme
From Friday 15 April to Saturday 16 April, the M1 southbound at junction 20 and the M1 northbound from junction 19 will be closed overnight from 9pm until 6am. Diversions will be clearly signposted.
A14 junction 10, Kettering, Northamptonshire: carriageway repairs
From 15 April 17 April, the A14 eastbound between junction 9 and 10 will be closed overnight. On the nights of 15 and 16 April, the road will be closed between 9pm and 8am. On 17 April, the road will be closed from 10pm until 6am the following morning. Diversions will be clearly signposted. The A14 eastbound exit slip road will also close at junction 10 from the night of 15 April through to the morning of 18 April at 6am.
A43 Abthorpe, Northamptonshire: carriageway repairs
The southbound carriageway will be closed between A5 Towcester roundabout and Abthorpe roundabout overnight on 11 and 12 April between 8pm and 6am. Diversions will be clearly signposted.
The northbound carriageway will be closed overnight from the A413 Dadford Road junction and A413 Wood Burcote junction overnight on 13 and 14 April between 8pm and 6am. Diversions will be clearly signposted.
