Planned roadworks in East Midlands: weekly summary for Monday 22 to Sunday 28 February 2016
Summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week.

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 19 February but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.
M1 junction 19, Leicestershire: road improvement scheme
The A14 to M1 northbound link road will be closed, as will the M1 northbound from junction 19 and southbound from junction 20, from 9pm on 22 February until 6am on 23 February.
The following diversions will be in place:

A14 to M1 northbound traffic will continue up the M6 to junction 1, head north east up the A426 and join the M1 at junction 20

M1 northbound traffic will be diverted up the M6 at junction 19 to M6 junction 1, then north east up the A426 to rejoin the M1 at junction 20

M1 southbound traffic will be diverted off at junction 20, head south down the A426 to M6 junction 1 and then travel east to rejoin the M1 or join the A14
The M1 to M6 northbound link road and M1 southbound exit road at junction 19 will be closed overnight from 9pm on 23 February until 6am on 24 February, and again from 9pm on 24 February until 6am on 25 February.
The following diversions will be in place:

M1 to M6 northbound traffic will continue on the M1 to junction 20, head south on the A426 and join the M6 at junction 1

M1 to A14 traffic will be diverted off the M1 at junction 20, head south west down the A426 and join the M6 southbound at junction 1
The M1 southbound exit slip road at junction 19 will be closed overnight from 9pm on 25 February until 6am on 26 February.
A diversion will take M1 to A14 traffic to the M1 junction 20, southwest down the A426, and back onto the M6 southbound at junction 1.
M1 junction 28 to 35a, Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire/Yorkshire: smart motorway
Until winter 2016, there will be various restrictions in place on the M1 between junctions 28 and 35a to allow for the construction of the smart motorway. These include lane closures, speed restrictions, hard shoulder running and overnight slip road or carriageway closures.
On Monday 22 February, the following overnight closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am:
- southbound exit road at junction 32
- southbound entry road at junction 35
- northbound exit and entry slip roads at junction 28
- northbound entry and southbound exit slip roads at junction 30
On Tuesday 23 February, the following overnight closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am:
- southbound entry road at junction 35
- northbound exit and entry roads at junction 28
- northbound entry road at junction 30
- southbound exit road at junction 30
- northbound exit road at junction 32
On Wednesday 24 February, the following overnight closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am:
- northbound entry road at junction 34
- northbound entry road at junction 28
- northbound entry road at junction 30
- southbound exit road at junction 30
- southbound entry and exits to Tibshelf services
- southbound exit road at junction 28
- northbound up and over at junction 32
On Thursday, 25 February, the following overnight closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am:
- northbound entry road at junction 35
- northbound exit road at junction 30
- southbound entry road at junction 30
- southbound exit and entry roads to Tibshelf services
- southbound exit road at junction 28
On Friday 26 February, the following overnight closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am:
- northbound entry road at junction 34
- southbound entry road at junction 35
On Saturday 27 February, the following overnight closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am on the northbound entry and exit roads at junction 29a.
On Sunday 28 February, the following overnight closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am on southbound exit and entry roads at junction 29a.
Diversions will be clearly signposted.
M1 junction 19 to 16, Northamptonshire: smart motorway
The southbound entry slip at junction 16 will be closed overnight from 10pm on 22 February until 6am on 23 February. Lanes one and two on both the north and southbound carriageways will also be closed between junctions 16 and 18 during this time.
M69 junction 1 to junction 21, Leicestershire: technology work
The eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight on February 22, 23, 24 and 25. The road will close at 8pm each night and reopen by 6am the following morning. Diversions will be in place throughout.
A5 Gibbet Hill island, Leicestershire/Warwickshire: resurfacing work
There will be a partial closure of A5 Gibbet Hill island this weekend, starting at 10pm on 26 February and ending at 5am on Monday 29 February. During this time, three side roads – A426 Rugby Road, A426 Lutterworth Road and Gibbet Lane - will also be closed.
A14 junction 13 to 12, Northamptonshire: survey work
The westbound carriageway and entry slips between junction 13 and junction 12 will be closed from 8pm on 25 February until 6am on 26 February, and again from 8pm on 26 February until 6am on 27 February. Diversions will be in place.
