Planned roadworks in Kent and Sussex: weekly summary for Monday 16 May to Sunday 22 May 2016
Planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week.
The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 13 May but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.
M2 Stockbury Viaduct, junction 5, Sittingbourne, Kent: bridge maintenance
Work to improve journeys by maintaining the bridge will take place this week. Lane closures will be in place on the coastbound entry slip road overnight, between 8pm and 6am, and during the day between 9.30am and 3.00pm, from Monday 16 May for 5 days.
M20 junction 4, Maidstone, Kent: junction improvement
Work by Kent County Council to improve journeys by adding an additional lane to the roundabout continues this week. Narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit will be in place on both carriageways underneath the roundabout for the duration of scheme. In addition, there will be a lane closure and 30mph speed limit in place on the southern section of the roundabout.

M23 junction 9 to 11, Crawley, Surrey: sign refurbishment
Work to improve journeys by carrying out sign refurbishment works on the M23 will start this week. Lane closures will be in place on the Londonbound carriageway overnight, between 10pm and 4am, from Monday 16 May for 2 nights.
In addition, the coastbound exit slip road at junction 11 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 4am, on Tuesday 17 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the next junction to return on the B2114 Londonbound.
The Londonbound exit slip road at junction 10 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 4am, on Wednesday 18 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 9.
The coastbound exit slip road at junction 10 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 4am, from Thursday 19 May for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 10a.
A20 Dover, Kent: junction improvement work
Work by the Port of Dover to improve journeys on the A20 continues this week. Lane closures will remain in place with a contraflow system between the Limekiln and York Street roundabouts for the duration of the works. There will continue to be no right turns from the A20 eastbound on to Union Street and from Union Street on to the A20. Clearly signed diversions will be in place.

A20 Folkestone to Dover, Kent: technology maintenance
Work to improve journeys on the A20 will start this week. The eastbound carriageway will be closed between the A260 and Western Heights Roundabout overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Monday 16 May.A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A260 and B2011.
A21 Barnetts Wood, Tonbridge, Kent: bridge installation
Work to maintain journeys by installing a replacement bridge will start this week. Lane closures and a reduced speed limit of 50mph will be in place in both directions overnight, between 7.30pm and 5am, from Monday 16 May for 5 nights. Work is due to be complete at the end of July.
A21 Tonbridge to Pembury, Kent: major improvement
Work to improve journeys on the A21 between Tonbridge and Pembury continues this week. A 40mph speed limit remains in place 24/7 between the Vauxhall interchange and the A228.
The Vauxhall coastbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 16 May for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A26 and the A228.

A27 Falmer Footbridge, East Sussex: bridge maintenance
Work to replace the ramp on the footbridge over the A27 at Falmer continues this week.
Narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit remain in place on the westbound carriageway and the outside lane of the westbound exit slip road remains closed until late May 2016.
A27 Westhampnett/Portfield roundabout, West Sussex: carriageway resurfacing
Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the carriageway will continue this week. The westbound carriageway from Temple Bar to Portfield roundabout will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 16 May for 6 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A259, A29 and A27.
A27 Worthing, West Sussex: lighting scheme
Work to improve safety by replacing lighting columns continues this week. There will be daytime working on the verges, with no impact on the A27, between 8am and 6pm from Monday 16 May for 5 nights. Work is due to be completed in August 2016.
