Planned roadworks in Kent and Sussex: weekly summary for Monday 7 November to Sunday 13 November 2016
Planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week.
The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 4 November but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.
M20 junction 4, Maidstone, Kent: junction improvement
Work by Kent County Council to improve journeys by adding an additional lane to the roundabout continues this week. Narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit will be in place on both carriageways underneath the roundabout for the duration of scheme. A lane closure and 30mph speed limit will be in place on the southbound section of the roundabout. Lane 1 of the westbound entry slip will be closed.
The westbound entry slip closure will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5am, on Monday 7 November. The junction will be closed in both directions overnight, between 9pm and 5am, from Wednesday 9 November for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip roads.

M23 junctions 11 – 9, Crawley to Gatwick Airport, Sussex: drainage survey
Work to maintain the M23 by improving drainage continues this week. Various lane closures will be implemented in both directions overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 7 November for 5 nights. Surveys are expected to be completed by mid-November.
A20 Dover, Kent: junction improvement work
Work by the Port of Dover to improve journeys on the A20 continues this week. Phased works continue at the York Street junction and at the Union Street junction. Lane closures will be in place in both directions between the Limekiln and Woolcomber junctions. There will be no right turn facility along the section of the A20 for both eastbound and westbound traffic. Clearly signed diversions will be in place to direct traffic through the works.

A21 Tonbridge to Pembury, Kent: major improvement
Work to improve journeys on the A21 between Tonbridge and Pembury continues this week. The southbound carriageway between Quarry Hill and Longfield roundabout and the northbound carriageway between Longfield roundabout and Vauxhall will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Friday 11 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A26, A2014, A26 and A228.
In addition, there will be a lane one closure on the northbound carriageway between Kippings Cross roundabout and Pembury Interchange during the same period.
Two way traffic lights will be in place on the A21 and on the coastbound entry slip road at Vauxhall overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 7 November for 5 nights.
Tonbridge Road will remain closed after Pembury Hospital up to and including Longfield Road roundabout until Spring 2017. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A228 and the A21.

A27 Hangleton to Ashcombe, Sussex, vegetation clearance
Work to improve safety by clearing vegetation takes place this week. The westbound entry and exit slip roads at the Hollinbury junection will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Monday 7 November.
A lane 1 closure on the westbound carriageway between Waterhall Road overbridge and Devils Dyke Road junction will be in place overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Tuesday 8 November.
The westbound entry and exit slip roads at Devils Dyke Road junction will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Wednesday 9 November.
The westbound entry and exit slip roads at the A293 Hangleton junction will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Thursday 10 November.
A westbound lane 1 closure between A293 Hangleton and the Southwick tunnel will be in place overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Friday 11 November.
A27 Chichester, Sussex: carriageway repair
Work to improve journeys on the A27 starts this week. Lane 1 on the westbound carriageway between Bognor Road and A285 Portfield junction will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 7 November for 5 nights. Work is expected to be completed by early December.
A249 Sittingbourne, Kent: carriageway repair
Work to improve journeys on the A249 at Groverhurst takes place this week. The northbound exit slip road at the junction with B2005 Grovehurst Road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5am, from Friday 11 November for 3 consecutive nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Kingsferry roundabout and return.
