Planned roadworks in North East: Weekly summary for Monday 16 to Sunday 22 February 2015
The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 10 February but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.
A1M junction 63 Interchange, Chester-le-Street, County Durham: Improvement work
There will be various lane closures on the southbound exit slip road and roundabout, ongoing until spring 2015.
A1 Junction 56 to Junction 51, North Yorkshire: Motorway upgrade work
There will be phases of night time lane closures, contraflows and full carriageway closures north and southbound. There will also be narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction 24 hours a day. Work will be ongoing until March 2017. Additionally there will be a full southbound closure between Scotch Corner and Junction 51and northbound between Junction 50 and Scotch Corner, overnight 8pm – 6am. This will take place 21 February. Diversions will be in place.
A1 Coalhouse to Swalwell Interchanges, Newcastle/Gateshead Western Bypass: Major upgrading work
There are 24 hour narrow lanes, contraflow and a 40mph speed restriction currently in place. There are also night time lane closures in place north and southbound between 8pm and 6am. Further phases of carriageway closures, lane closures and contraflow will be ongoing until spring 2016. Additionally there will be a full closure northbound between 8pm and 6am on 20 February at Lobley Hill with a diversion in place.
A1 Seaton Burn Interchange, Cramlington, Northumberland: Junction Improvement work
Work to improve the interchange will be ongoing until end of February. Phases of night time lane closures and some carriageway closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am. A 50mph speed restriction will be in place throughout the works.
A1M Junction 62 to 63, County Durham, Barrier Works
There will be 24 hour lane closures north and southbound for the duration of the works. There will be 24/7 hardshoulder and lane 1 running with lane 2 being closed. The works will take place until end of April.
A1 Smeafield, Northumberland, Drainage Works
There will be daytime traffic signals north and southbound between 8am and 6pm. The works will take place until early March.
A1 Conundrum Farm to Scottish Border, Northumberland, Resurfacing Works
There will be night time convoy working between 8pm and 6am, and daytime lane closure between 6am and 8pm. The works will take place until 19 February.
A1 Tritlington to Earsdon, Northumberland, Technology Works
There will be traffic signals north and southbound between 8pm and 6am. There will also be a 40mph speed limit in place 24 hours a day. The works will take place until 20 February.
A1 Alnwick, Northumberland, Alnwick South Bridge Refurbishment Phase 2
A1 lane closures north and southbound to install carriageway crossovers followed by a full closure southbound with all traffic running in contra-flow on the northbound carriageway 24 hours a day. The A1068 below the bridge will operate under traffic signal control. The works will take place until August 2015.
A1M Junction 58 – 59, County Durham: Structural maintenance
There will be a carriageway closure southbound with a lane closure northbound 16 – 27 February. All works will take place overnight between 8pm and 6am.
A1M Junction 60 - 61, County Durham: Investigation work
There will be a lane closure northbound 9 -18 February, and a lane closure southbound 19 – 28 February. The works will take place between 8pm and 6am.
A1 Kenton Bar to Seaton Burn, Newcastle Upon Tyne: Bridge maintenance
There will be a full closure northbound 9 – 20 February and a full closure southbound 23 February – 6 March. The works will take place between 8pm and 6am.
A19 Seaton Burn to Howden, North Tyneside: Lining work
There will be a full closure northbound between Holystone and Killingworth 16 – 18 February, and between Killingworth and Moor Farm 19 and 20 February. All works will take place between 8pm and 6am.
A66 Morton Park to Little Burdon, Darlington Bypass: Electrical work
There will be lane closures north and southbound between 8pm and 6am. The works will take place 19 – 24 February.
A1M Junction 56 to 58, County Durham: Lining work
There will be lane closures northbound between 8pm and 6am. The works will take place 16 – 18 February.
A66 Blackwell, Darlington Bypass: Electrical work
There will be traffic signals in operation between 8pm and 6am. The works will take place 16 – 18 February.
A1 Warreners House to Clifton, Northumberland: Lining work
There will be lane closures in place north and southbound between 8pm and 6am. The works will take place 16 – 20 February.
A696 Prestwick to Kenton Bar, Newcastle Upon Tyne: Lining work
There will be a southbound carriageway closure 16 – 19 February, followed by convoy working southbound on 20 February. All works will take place between 8pm and 6am.
A19 Silverlink to Wallsend, North Tyneside: Technology work
There will be a lane closure north and southbound on 18 February followed by a southbound carriageway closure 19 February and a northbound carriageway closure 20 February. All works will take place between 8pm and 6am.
A1 Seaton Burn to Fairmoor, Northumberland: Layby improvement
There will be a lane closure in place northbound 16 – 20 February. There will also be a carriageway closure northbound on 19 February. All works will take place between 8pm and 6am.
A66M J57 to Blackwell, County Durham: Technology work
There will be a lane closure in place northbound between 8pm and midnight. The works will take place 17 February.
A1 Ellingham to Warrenford, Northumberland: Survey work
There will be traffic signals in operation north and southbound between 8pm and 6am. The works will take place 16 – 27 February.
