Planned roadworks in North East: Weekly summary for Monday 9 March to Sunday 15 March 2015
The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 4 March but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.
A1M junction 63 Interchange, Chester-le-Street, County Durham: Improvement work
There will be various lane closures on the southbound exit slip road and roundabout, ongoing until spring 2015.
A1 Junction 56 to Junction 51, North Yorkshire: Motorway upgrade work
There will be phases of night time lane closures, contraflows and full carriageway closures north and southbound. There will also be narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction 24 hours a day. Work will be ongoing until March 2017. Additionally there will be a full southbound closure between Scotch Corner and Junction 51and northbound between Junction 50 and Scotch Corner, overnight 8pm – 6am on 14 March. Diversions will be in place.
A1 Coalhouse to Swalwell Interchanges, Newcastle/Gateshead Western Bypass: Major upgrading work
There are 24 hour narrow lanes, contraflow and a 40mph speed restriction currently in place. There are also night time lane closures in place north and southbound between 8pm and 6am. Further phases of carriageway closures, lane closures and contraflow will be ongoing until spring 2016. Additionally there will be a full closure northbound at Lobley Hill with a diversion in place. This will take place between 8pm and 6am 9 – 13 March.
A1 Seaton Burn Interchange, Cramlington, Northumberland: Junction improvement work
Work to improve the interchange will be ongoing until mid March. Phases of night time lane closures and some carriageway closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am. A 50mph speed restriction will be in place throughout the works.
A1M Junction 62 to 63, County Durham: Barrier works
There will be 24/7 hardshoulder and lane 1 running with lane 2 being closed north and southbound. The works will take place until end of April.
A1 Alnwick, Northumberland: Alnwick South Bridge refurbishment phase 2
Full closure southbound with all traffic running in contra-flow on the northbound carriageway 24 hours a day. The A1068 below the bridge will operate under traffic signal control. The works will take place until August 2015.
A19 Seaton Burn to Howdon, North Tyneside: Lining works
There will be a full closure northbound between Moor Farm and Fisher Lane between 9 and 11 March. This will be followed by a southbound closure between Fisher Lane and Moor Farm between 12 and 16 March. All works will take place between 8pm and 6am.
A66 Sedbury, North Yorkshire: Improvement works
There will be a lane closure in place east and westbound between 8pm and 6am. The works will take place until 11 March.
A66 Surtees Bridge, Thornaby, Teesside: Resurfacing work
There will be slip road closures east and westbound between 8pm and 6am. The works will take place until 11 March.
A66 Long Newton, County Durham: Electrical works
There will be a lane closure east and westbound between 8pm and 6am. The works will take place 9 – 13 March.
A1M Junction 60 – 59, County Durham: Structural maintenance
There will be a carriageway closure southbound between 8pm and 6am, with a diversion in place. The works will take place until 15 March.
A66 Rokeby, County Durham: Improvement work
There will be convoy working in operation between 8pm and 6am. The works will take place 10 – 31 March.
A1M Junction 64, County Durham: Technology work
One lane will be closed both north and southbound between 8pm and midnight. The works will take place 13 March.
A1 Denton Burn Interchange, Newcastle Upon Tyne: Resurfacing work
There will be a closure of the northbound entry slip between 8pm and 6am. The works will take place 9 – 13 March.
A1 Seaton Burn to Shotton, Northumberland: Barrier work
One lane will be closed both north and southbound between 8pm and 5.30am. The works will take place 12 March.
A1 Warenford, Northumberland: Sign work
There will be traffic signals in operation between 7am and 7pm. The works will take place 9 March.
A1 Morpeth, Northumberland: Horticultural work
There will be a lane closure north and southbound between 8am and 5pm. The works will take place 9 – 13 March.
A1 Berwick, Northumberland: Sign work
There will be traffic signals and lane closures in operation north and southbound between 8pm and 6am. The work will take place 9 – 19 March.
A1 Belford, Northumberland: Sign work
There will be traffic signals in operation north and southbound between 7am and 7pm. The works will take place 10 March.
A1 Fenwick, Northumberland: Sign work
There will be traffic signals in operation north and southbound between 7am and 7pm. The works will take place 11 - 12 March.
A1 Haggerston, Northumberland: Sign work
There will be traffic signals in operation north and southbound between 7am and 7pm. The works will take place 13 March.
