Planned roadworks in the East Midlands: weekly summary for Monday 25 to Sunday 31 January 2016

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 22 January but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 19, Catthorpe Interchange, Leicestershire: junction improvement

The M1 to M6 northbound link road and A14 to M6 northbound link road will be closed overnight from 9pm on 29 January until 6am on 30 January. At the same time, lane one of the A14 will be closed.

A diversion will take traffic for the M6 northbound up the M1 to junction 20, south-west on the A426 and back to the M6 at junction 1.

M1 junction 28 to 35a, Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire/Yorkshire: smart motorway

Until winter 2016, there will be various restrictions in place on the M1 between junctions 28 and 35a to allow for the construction of the smart motorway. These include lane closures, speed restrictions, hard shoulder running and overnight slip road or carriageway closures.

This week, the following closures will be in place:

On Monday 25 January, the northbound entry slip at junction 28 will be closed overnight from 8pm to 6am. At the same time, the southbound entry to Tibshelf services will be closed, as will the southbound exit slip at junction 33.

On Tuesday 26 January, the junction 33 exit slip will be closed overnight from 8pm to 6am.

On Wednesday 27 January, the M1 northbound to M18 northbound link (junction 32) will be closed between 8pm and 6am. The southbound entry to Tibshelf services will also be closed at this time.

On Thursday 28 January, the junction 28 southbound up and over will be closed overnight from 8pm to 6am. At the same time, the junction 33 southbound exit slip, and northbound exit slip at junction 35 will also be closed.

On Friday 29 January, both the southbound exit and entry slip roads at junction 28 will be closed overnight from 8pm to 6am. At the same time, the entry slip at junction 35a will be closed, as will the southbound entry to Tibshelf services.

On Saturday 30 January, the southbound exit and entry slip roads at junction 28 will be closed overnight from 8pm to 6am. At the same time, the southbound entry slip at junction 35a will be closed. The same closures will be in place overnight on Sunday 31 January.

A43 Brackley, Northamptonshire: resurfacing work

The northbound carriageway will be closed from 8pm on January 22 until 6am on January 25. It will also close from 8pm to 6am each night until Wednesday 3 February. There will also be a 24/7 closure of the lay-by. Diversions will be signposted.

A1 Winthorpe to North Muskham, Nottinghamshire: bridge work

The carriageway will be closed in both directions overnight on 25 January from 9pm until 6am on 26 January, and again overnight from 9pm on 26 January until 6am on 27 January. Diversions will be clearly signposted.
